We are hearing quiet a lot about Angry Birds lately and the game does not seem to get out of the news. In the new episode announced by Rovio, Luke & Leia, Han Solo and Chewbacca, R2D2 and C-3PO and many other famous Figures from Star Wars will make their debut within Angry Birds.
We’re now less than 3 days away from the release of Angry Birds Star Wars episode, and Rovio is rolling out some of the gameplay videos with, a little bit haste. In this game it's all about taking on the evil piggy empire.
Each of the videos features a famous Star Wars duo and provides a glimpse of what their characters’ bird-powers will be in the game. For example, the Luke Skywalker bird flails his father’s lightsaber around, while the Han Solo bird fires a ricocheting blaster.
Obi Wan and Lord Darth Vader can't be missing. They are crossing swords and it seems that the movies struggle was not over.
In the preface to the Han Solo and Chewbacca preview video which was released earlier, it was speculated that Ben Kenobi would be the most likely character to show up next, and it turns out that we were right. In the video preview Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader is featured, crossing lightsabers one last time in their old age. The video shows that the Obi-Wan bird will, of course, use the force to knock around the evil piggy empire, including the porcine Darth Vader.
Also the beloved Droids shows off their Droid powers. You’ll find that R2-D2 and C3PO make for good birds.
The trailer showed the more traditional Angry Birds gameplay taking center stage, but it appears that Rovio has implementing the design of Angry Birds Space into the game as well. The Droid birds will fly through the gravity wells that Angry Birds Space was notorious for while trying to defeat the pig empire.
It’s unknown what impact if any the recent acquisition of LucasFilm by Disney will do to any future games like this going into the future. During a conference call, Disney said that Star Wars games of the future will be primarily for social and mobile platforms. There’s a good chance that Angry Birds: Star Wars and similar projects will be the norm for years to come.
In this following video Han Solo is showcased, played by the yellow bird, and Chewbacca played by a very hairy version of the giant red bird. The Han bird will be able to fire a blaster that shoots ricocheting blaster bolts across the level. The Chewbacca bird will function much as the giant red bird does in other games, using his bulk to smash through obstacles. He does it with a familiar Wookie roar, though, which definitely makes it better.
Angry Birds Star Wars will be available on iOS and Android App Stores on November 8th 2012. Other Platforms were announced to be released later on, probably until the end of the year.
We are looking forward for more games to be coming from Rovio in 2013 and suggest to all Star Wars Fans to have a look on what their favorit heroes have become.
