Angry Birds: Rovio And CERN to Collaborate On Making Learning a Fun Experience

Angry Birds: Rovio And CERN to Collaborate On Making Learning a Fun ExperienceThe Angry Birds have taken flight to CERN as CERN Director General Rolf Heuer and Rovios CMO Peter Vesterbacka announced the start of a new collaboration on fun learning experiences using the Angry Birds Platform.

Angry Birds-maker Rovio and CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, are to collaborate on developing “fun learning experiences” aimed at getting kids engaged with science. The collaboration is part of a new initiative by Rovio to use the power of the Angry Birds brand as a learning aid for kids.

The Finnish company has also initiated a learning programme under a new brand, called Angry Birds Playground which is not related to the Angry Birds activity parks – targeted at 3 to 8-year-olds based on the Finnish National Curriculum for pre-school.

In the field of education the Angry Birds Playground Brand collaborates with the best partners on the planet and looks into all possible dimensions to make learning a fun experience. Collaboration with CERN seemed a natural choice after working with the National Geographic Society.

At the Frankfurt Book Fair was told by CERN’s Head of Education, Rolf Landua - “Modern physics has been around for 100 years, but it’s still a mystery to many people. Working together with Rovio opens up new opportunities to teach kids the meaning of quantum physics by making it fun and easy to understand”.

Landau added “It’s a great fit for both sides, combining physics and Angry Birds in a fun way. Rovio has a great platform, with a broad reach and highly engaged fans, which makes this collaboration very promising. With Rovio and Angry Birds Playground, we get a great channel to communicate what CERN does”.

“With Playground products, kids can have fun and learn more about physics than they would have in the ‘old-fashioned’ style of learning” added Peter Vesterbacka,, Rovios Mighty Eagle, in an additional statement. He added "I’ve been to CERN and experienced it myself. It’s a fun place to visit!”.

Rovio has already demonstrated its reach with its first book app, Bad Piggies Egg Recipes, which launched yesterday. The app is already the #1 paid book app for iPad across the globe, including the US, Canada, France, Germany, and Spain.
